DCs Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, Episode 3 Review: “Shogun”

This episode finds Vixen joining the Legends, in hopes they will help her bring Rex Tyler’s killer (aka Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash) to justice. Nate Haywood exhibits powers and Ray is assigned to train him, and the team is in 17th century Japan where they encounter samurais and ninjas alike.

Nate starts manifesting powers due to the effects of the modified Super-Soldier serum. While training with Ray Palmer, accidently ends up crashlanding in a 17th century Japan village where, Ray is captured by the Shogun and his samurai, who steals his suit.

Mick, Sara, and Amaya/Vixen go out to save Nate and Ray while also agreeing to defend the villagers from the Shoguns attack. We do find out that the family that the Legends are protecting, that their family name is Yamashiro, which is the name of Katana, an ally of Ray Palmer and Oliver Queen.

Ray fears that without his suit he is no longer worthy of being a hero. He must overcome this fear of having his suit destroyed and learns that it isn’t the suit that makes the hero, but the person who wears the suit makes the hero.

On the Waverider, Professor Stein and Jefferson realize that there is a secret compartment somewhere in the ship. They come across a message from the future Barry Allen to Captain Hunter. Stein and Jefferson agree that they should keep the message to themselves for now. What could the message be? Will the team find out? I guess this will be a season long mystery.

Episode Score: 7.8/10
